Admission Procedure
Admissions are granted in Classes VI, VII, VIII & IX through an all India level entrance examination. Admission to Class XI is based on the availability of seats. The selection criteria include Class 10 Board Examination result and performance in the school’s internal admission procedure. The applicant should not have completed eleven/ twelve/ thirteen/fourteen/sixteen years on January of the year in which admission is sought for these classes.
The word are not permitted to remain in the School after completion of their 18th year, nor after failure in any class for two consecutive years. The boys are also not permitted to remain in the School on failing a public examination of Class X and Class XII. New Students are admitted only at the beginning of the Final Term (July) and are on probation for a year.
Admission is a four stage process as follows:
Ist Stage – Procuring ProspectusIt is available only in the Gyandeep English School, Administrative Office at Sirshi, Sirshi and can be obtained from the School Administrative Office on payment of Rs. 200/-. On written request the Prospectus can also be dispatched by post through registered AD or courier on the desired address.(address of Sirshi)
2nd Stage – RegistrationThe applicant must be registered with Children Academy to be considered for admission to Children Academy through an entrance test. Application form for registration is a part of the Prospectus and is provided as a tear-out leaflet. Duly filled registration form along with the registration fee and date of birth certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation should be submitted to the School.
The registration fee is not refundable under any circumstance. The amount will be paid either in cash or by Bank Draft in favour of the Principal, Children Academy, Sirshi, payable at Sirshi only. Cheques are not accepted. The registration is valid for two consecutive attempts of Common Entrance Test.
3rd Stage – Common Entrance Test (CET) & Scholarship Entrance Test (SET)Common Entrance Test (CET)
The Common Entrance Test is conducted jointly by a group of Children Academy during January every year for admission in July next year. All the applicants registered for admission in a particular year are sent CET form and other related documents in the month of Febrauary. These documents duly filled along with the CET fee should be submitted to the School in order to receive the admission card for the test after which only Children Academy is allowed as a centre. The CET is organised in various centres all over the country and the applicant can choose any centre provided. The Common Entrance Form duly filled should be received in the school office latest by March.
The students are tested in English, Mathematics & General Awareness.
Scholarship Entrance Test (SET)
A limited number of students are admitted on graded scholarships of 15% or 25% or 40% of the school fee through a scholarship test that is conducted by the Children’s Academy at a few centres in India in February. Prior registration for the Scholarship entrance test is not essential but the application form for the Scholarship entrance test is to be filled latest by January 15th. The form can be obtained from the School office or downloaded from our website. The students are tested in English, Mathematics & General Awareness.
4th Stage – InterviewAfter the written test is evaluated, an Admission committee consisting of the Principal and Senior Masters decide on a qualifying mark for inviting boys to come to the school for an interview. The successful candidates are then called for an interview in January and in April for a final selection.
Out of those appearing any year in CET/ SET, only a limited number, commensurate with the number of possible vacancies, are offered admission that year. School reserves the right to reject or admit any candidate, not withstanding the stipulated rules in the Prospectus.
We would advise the parents to try and visit the School during term time with their Ward before he/she is due to appear in the Entrance test and meet us and see the School in action.
